The Minister-President of the Brussels Region, Rudi Vervoort, has announced that, in order to limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the Brussels Region, all cultural sites will be closed as of Monday 26 October until new health provisions authorise their reopening. We would therefore like to inform our visitors that the Royal Museum of the Army and Military History will be closed from this Tuesday 27 October onwards (since Monday is our usual closing day).

Due to the new sanitary measures, the reading rooms of the documentation centre will also be closed from Monday 26 October until 19 November 2020....

After the spectacular move of the Yser/Congo/Meuse panoramas in early October 2020, some 45 historical objects were transferred from the Sart-Hulet (Jambes) barracks to the Ypres barracks in the week of 12 to 16 October 2020. The move was induced by the closure of the Jambes barracks and the partial installation in the Amay barracks of the Museum of Military Engineering originally housed in the Sart-Hulet polygon.

The Brotherhood of Political Prisoners of the Neuengamme concentration camp was created 75 years ago, on 15 October 1945. We wanted to organize a large commemorative ceremony and hold our annual meeting at the Royal Military Museum in Brussels, with a visit of the new permanent exhibition “War - Occupation - Liberation”.

Because of COVID-19 it proved impossible to participate in the ceremony for the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Neuengamme concentration camp on 3 May 2020.

The annual commemoration of Fort Breendonk was rather special this year due to the restrictions.

The Brussels museums make their COME♡BACK during a long weekend with endless feel good activities! From Thursday 1 through Sunday 4 October artists and cultural organisations will pitch their tents in 40 Brussels museums to wipe out the difficult days of 2020 by means of a secure, comforting, relaxing and most of all positive program!
