The War Heritage Institute manages a network of exceptional museums and military sites all over Belgium, all housing first-rate collections. The Royal Military Museum illustrates the many aspects of Belgian military heritage, whereas the other sites focus on specific subjects and themes.

Multi-sites ticket

With the multi-sites ticket you can visit the six War Heritage Institute sites: the Royal Military Museum in Brussels, Fort Breendonk in Willebroek, Gunfire in Brasschaat, the Trench of Death in Dixmude, the Kemmel Command Bunker in Heuvelland and Bastogne Barracks in Bastogne. The ticket is valid for 1 year and is transferable.

  • Site of Fort Breendonk - Willebroek

    Between September 1940 and September 1944 some 3,600 prisoners were detained at Fort Breendonk. As a memorial, Fort Breendonk (one of the best preserved camps in Europe) symbolizes the death of and the suffering endured by all victims of Nazism.

  • Site Gunfire - Brasschaat

    Gunfire is the cradle of Belgian artillery. This interpretation and expertise centre houses an extensive range of field, anti-aircraft and trench artillery used by the Belgian army since 1830. A collection of light airplanes and a large number of armoured vehicles are also on display.

    The site safeguards the last stretches of Belgian First World War trenches. The centre tells the exciting story of the Trench of Death through interactive applications, texts, pictures, film footage and unique objects.
